PEOPLE

Andrew Godlonton

Andrew joined OK Bazaars Ltd in 1981 as a trainee manager and completed the relevant training courses in retail. He then moved onto Makro in 1984 as a Cash Manager, until moving on to Milborrow Animal Health as a Branch Manager. When Milborrow closed down, he moved into Checkers, where he gained further FMCG experience as a Sales manager, which proved vital in his career when he moved on to Beacon Sweets. 

Putting all previous experience to good use resulting in “Achiever of the Year” in 1992 and 1994. Opportunity arose to open his own Sales and Merchandising business which was later sold to the VMS Group in 1999, where he became a Partner in VMS KZN, taking over as Operations Director in 2003.

In 2005 Andrew transferred to VMS Operations in Johannesburg as head of the Merchandising Division for large principles including the Premier Foods account. In 2008 Andrew formally moved into the Human Resources and Industrial Relations side of the business undergoing much training especially in Industrial Relations. The VMS Group was later bought out by CIC Holdings and again by Imperial Logistics.

Rewarded after 17 years with VMS, Andrew ended his term as Human Resources and Industrial Relations Executive for Imperial Retail Solutions, one of the Imperial Holdings operating companies.

Andrew completed the Advanced Labour Law Programme, through UNISA and then obtained a qualification through Stellenbosch University in Labour Dispute Resolution Practice (serves as the qualification for CCMA Commissioners).

Andrew left the business to open Labour Associates.
